I am wondering if this picture follows the rule of thirds. I think it does as the log seems the biggest in the right third of the picture… What do you think? Any advice?

Absolutely. If you grid off your photo, the weight is to the right. It is centered rather than upper or lower right but for the subject, this is perfect. I can show you a grid of your photo if I can figure out how to send an attachment. Great job!

If I may quote Amy Arbus: “In a perfect world you would want…but you live in reality”. In this case you would want the gear, which to me is the primary subject of the shot, about one google size further to the right for a “perfect” result of rule of thirds. That said, you have a good example here.

I think you did well. If the log is your subject, it’s not centered. The google is the subject, then you would need to go a bit more to the right.
Remember that rules are to be broken. 😉 including this one.
