This is a snippet out of the second book of The Liza Trilogy, Imprinted. It is from a bit further in the back of the book. Liza had spend a while now in the country and has become part of the Stud’s team. It is still raw and un-edited. As always, feedback is greatly appreciated.
The old ruin was a solid built. Big rocks built the walls and the roof was holding up really well. The door was made of thick pieces of wood. She felt safe in here and the jacket kept her warm. Maybe it was not the jacket but being so close to Jake. Suddenly there was another lightning and the thunder following it up sounded like a very loud bang. They could feel the sonic wave of the lightning struck and this time even the horses jumped a little.
“Whoa! Easy you two! Wow! That must have struck pretty close by!” Jake finally broke the silence. He let go of Liza. The horses calmed down again right away.
“It is a pretty strong storm. I will let the storm move on a little before I try to call Kelly. I hope they were able to get the horses inside in time. The rain will not stop for a while. She can get the trailer and pick us up, once the worst has passed. I just quickly send her a message. Just to let her know, where we are and that we are fine.”
Then another lightening struck close by. And it spooked the horses again. ‘Flash’ made a jump to the side and almost knocked Liza over, pushing her to the side and right into Jake.
With a quick reflex Jake caught her fall and was holding on to her. The horses had calmed down again right away and Liza did not seemed to be hurt.
Liza turned around. She wanted to say something but instead just looked into Jakes eyes. Jake did not let go of her; he still had his arms around her, now pulling her even closer. Outside the wind was howling and the thunder followed lightning on the dot.
