Very often Liza could not agree though with what he was doing. Too often she felt he was heartless and to tough with people he was dealing with. Tim seemed to be happy to walk over dead bodies, something Liza could never really understand. But then he was part of another world and being a Investment Banker probably asked for a certain coolness. How could she really understand what his job was like. She just struggled to hear him talk about kicking a guy out of his home just because Tim’s clients did not want to give him more time. And one night after they had dinner at one of those expensive beautiful places they had an encounter with some guy. Liza could not forget about it as much as she wanted to.
They had just stepped outside when this guy pointed at Tim and said “You! It’s your fault! How could you do that to me? To us! To my family! How could you? How could you kick us out of the house, knowing my wife was terminal? A family with kids! How can you be so cold? All we needed was one more months! One months!”
Tim quickly shoved Liza into the taxi and they drove off. Liza could see the desperation in the guys face and she could see how he was tearing up. Liza wanted to know what had happened. She did not stop digging until Tim gave her an answer. He was annoyed about her asking.
All Tim had to say about it was “Not my fault that his wife got sick. Not my fault she died. And definitely not my fault if he does not get his shit together. He should have planned better and maybe worked a bit harder. Instead of sitting around crying.”
