In the first book of The Liza Trilogy, Losing Myself, you learn more about Liza and her past, especially about her relationship with Tim. This is another sneak peek of the first book. It is raw and unedited. Feedback is, as always, greatly appreciated.
Britt knew that Liza was only trying to convince herself. And she knew that Liza was aware of what was happening. She was just at a very vulnerable place and hopefully one day she would wake up and see that Tim was turning her into one of his nice possessions he collected, one of his accessories. Britt just hoped it would not be hurting Liza even more.
They were together now for quite a while and Liza was approaching her mid 30’s. Britt knew how important family was for her friend especially after having lost hers. Britt had overheard her joking about starting a family with Tim who pretty roughly shut her down. She knew that Liza would never get what her heart was longing for with this man. He was an ass and Britt was not hiding the fact that she did not like him at all. She tried a couple of times to go out with both of them but she could just not take the bullshit and in the end it got stressful for her and for Liza. So she kept away.
It was like walking on a tightrope, trying to keep the balance between being a good friend and being honest and at the same time accepting your friend’s decisions. Sometimes Britt wished she could go back to that day, that evening at the Polo tournament and just not push Liza into accepting Tim’s invitation. Maybe then everything would be different.
